AFDP supports Magic Ball championship for school children in Mongolia

The Asian Football Development Project (AFDP) announced today its support for "Magic Ball"; a National Futsal Championship for school children led by the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF).

The grassroots program includes training for coach educators in 21 provinces across Mongolia and 9 districts of Ulaanbaatar, the Mongolian capital. The programalso includes school championships for girls and boys followed by provincial playoffs for places in the finals.

AFDP’s support will help promote football as a major sport to be played in schools, educate schools’ sports teachers and provide a platform to engage provincial administrations, educational and sports departments in promoting football across the country thereby building a solid foundation for Mongolian football.

“I commend the Mongolian Football Federation for their tireless efforts to build a football culture in schools through this grassroots program that encouraging boys and girls to start playing at a young age, we are very happy to be part of the program and we wish them all a successful journey forward,” said HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, FIFA Vice President representing Asia and Chairman of AFDP.

AFDP’s support was also extended to the Finals which took place between March 31 and April 14, 2014 in Ulaanbaatar and included the participation of 13 Under-11 teams and 12 Under-14 teams. AFDP will also be providing 5,000 indestructible One World Futbols as well as 250 UEFA-donated football this year.
