The Asian Football Development Project (AFDP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA) on May 2nd, 2012 in grassroots and youth development.

Founded and Chaired by FIFA Vice President Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, AFDP will support the CTFA’s “Taiwan Youth League” dubbed 2012 TYL, a program focused on implementing a system for youth and coach development and providing a pathway for talent in these areas.

2012 TYL aims to hone young players’ skills through football competitions where young players will have the opportunity to participate in 20 to 25 matches a season. The program is also focused on providing a learning experience for coaches through these competitions where they can develop their analytical, planning and coaching skills.

“We are very excited about our partnership with the Chinese Taipei Football Association,” said Prince Ali. The program’s motto: The Game is the Best Teacher, truly captures the importance of starting at the grassroots level. I commend the football leaders in Chinese Taipei for their commitment to youth football and am looking forward to seeing how this initiative and our support augments the commendable progress of football as a whole in Chinese Taipei,” he added.
